Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
